Collectivism, at $1100 per month

By now you've heard about the pre-school in Seattle that banned Legos. (h/t and link -John J. Miller at NRO)

Well I just wanted to see what this school was like, so I went to their web page and found
this info.  Now I went to college in Westchester County NY in the late 70's and my parent's didn't pay that much then, but I guess when you are teaching that

"This educational approach provides fertile ground for risk-taking and the kind of collaborative work that helps all of us contribute to our community, without deeply compromising our own well being...
In this process children become powerful researchers and problem solvers that know how to agree and disagree without hurting themselves or others. Rather than working in isolation, children get to experience a diversity of ideas and perspectives that inform their rich collaborations."
(emp. mine)

Isn't it amazing what you can learn for $1100 a month in pre-school?

The Earth Is Warmer (or is that colder?)

The enviro-wackos have  been telling us that for years, it seems like decades now, but I digress.
Even the former Veep of the first Clinton administration has a money making power point presentation that proves it.
Or does it?
Because it seems to me if Algore was so concerned he might not be such an energy hog.

Any questions please feel free to check out one of my favorite sites for environmental facts, Enviro Spin ( you'll find the link over there on the right of your screen).

This should be fun

Rep. Keith Ellison D-Minn, is going to give tonight's "Democrat Response" to President Bush's much anticipated speech on Iraq.

Why?  Because he's a Muslim!  No other real reason.  This is the guy they want front and center on this issue tonight.
Now this guy became a Muslim by joining Calypso Louis' band of white shirted thugs, a.k.a. The Nation of Islam.  That means he is a follower of the man who killed Malcom X at the behest of Elijah Mohammed.  What does that mean for the rest of us?  Well for one it shades into grey his understanding of, as he himself says about the Qur'an:

I am inspired by the Qur'an's message of an encompassing divine love, and a deep faith guides my life every day.

Something tells me those two just don't mesh.

Wow with a faith built on the lies of a murderer, the Democrats have a real winner representing them tonight as a rebuttal to the President's speech on Iraq.

Nurse Nancy Strikes...Again

So The City of New York, under the wise and benevolent leadership of Nurse Nancy Bloomberg (RINO-Mayor NYC) has decreed that Trans fats are verboten in NY restaurants.
Wow, thanks for deciding what I can and can not eat when I visit NYC, you over zealous health nazi you.  I mean w/o the NY Board of (or is it by) Health how was I to know that
trans fats kill 30,000 people a year.  Unless I listen to the nut jobs at Center for Science in the Public Interest.  The "Watch Dog" group that gives the nanny state ALL the facts.
Well maybe not.  It seems that in 1988 these same folks were saying that Trans Fats were okay, because they weren't Saturated Fats.  Don't believe me?  Well check out this piece from Saturday's
The Wall Street Journal.

Remember what ever doesn't kill you, makes the tort bar stronger.

Man I'm So Glad The Democrats Won.

First off h/t to Winston over at The Spirit Of Man for this blast from Reza Pahlavi about the possible duplicity of the US government (read Foggy Bottom Dullesites) being willing to talk to Iran about anything other than freedom for the people of that nation.
The Great and Powerful Iran Study Group had declared that dialog with dictators is the best way to bring peace and stability to that region.  Excuse me while i look for a bucket.
Mark Steyn in his great new book has a fine blast about how lefties react to fixing the world's problems, and it fits here.

"As President Ronald Reagan liked to say, 'status quo' is Latin for 'the mess we're in.' ...it's important to remember that 'stability' is Arabic for 'the mess we're in.' "

Any questions?

Tears In My Beer

The Election is over and there is plenty of anger to go around, but that is not what I'm going to do today.

I wish today was different, but it is not so, so, to steal a line from Benjamin Guggenheim on the Titanic (via: NRO's James S. Robbins)

"We've dressed up in our best and are prepared to go down like gentleman."

I'm ready to watch the nation realize the errors of it's ways.
And I'm ready to be the voice on the radio calling out that the iceberg is near.
I've got my cigars and my scotch and I'll let you know when you should head for the lifeboats.

The Focus Is To Blame

With the latest murders in PA, isn't it time to begin to shift some of the blame to the 24 hour media cycle. I see the constant need to fill the air with tears and fears as adding to the info overload that is effecting these already overloaded minds.  We have all of these "suicidal nut jobs" (that is, I think the technical term) who see their ilk committing suicide by cop , and major ink and air time.  Now of course they can't just take themselves out, they feel the need to destroy as many families as possible along with their own.  My advice to these "people", just pull the trigger on your own messed up life, don't take more good people with you.

Now why do I also blame the news cycle?  Because without the constant repeating of the names of the nutjobs, there would be no "breaking news" for all the nets to cover.

I suggest that the nets do what tv sports does when idiots run out onto the field, ignore it.
They let people know that a disturbance is taking place, but the perp DOES NOT get his 15 seconds of fame.
In the future the press should talk about the direct victims of the attacks and leave the, hopefully dead, perp's name out of it.

That is all.

I Know Where I Was

Sept 11, 2001, was a warm day in Southeastern New England, and I was home sick from work.
After watching the news for a few minutes around 8:00am I decided to watch "Time Tunnel" on the SciFi Channel.  It was the one where they appear at the Alamo just before Santa Anna attacks.
When it was over, just before the top of the hour, I switched it over to the local NBC affiliate to catch the weather, I need to see what the chances were of my getting any rest that day.
The image that was on my tv was hard to understand, but as I watched I found out that a plane had hit the first tower.  I continued to watch, hopping to find out what had happened, when...
When that second plane hit, I knew I was not getting any rest that day, my bum leg was going to have to keep hurting.
A short while later as Kattie Couric was talking to Pentagon corespondent Jim Mic (I ain't even going to try to spell that name) and he basically said "the building I'm in just got hit, I'll talk to you guys later" that was when I knew that "it" had really hit the fan.
I then called my buddy capham (although at the time he was just ltham) and spent time getting what info he was able to gather from the web, while I watched the nets and their biased news.  The highlight was finally being able to watch Fox News when the local Fox affiliate carried it instead of what ever daytime garbage it usually carried.
I remember having a brief moment of confusion when I was unable to get WPIX 11 out of New York (my cable system carried that channel at the time) until I remembered where their transmitter was located.
Was I mad that the President kept reading to a bunch of little kids?  Heck no!  What were we supposed to do, just launch a strike against everyone right away out of fear and anger?  I was more upset with the Networks whining about not knowing where Airforce One was.  WTF,  The DC area had just been hit, was the POTUS supposed to just put himself in harms way to make Peter Jennings happy?
The only light hearted moment that I had was later in the day, around 4pm when on the local news a business man who's office is in the building I work in, was interviewed and told the reporter how out of the kindness of his heart he sent his employees home early that day.  Now this guy had 2 (TWO) employees working for him and they were both IT guys who usually worked from home on Tuesday.  So they were not even in that day.  And talking to them later I confirmed that truth.

Five years later, We Must Never Forget!!!!!

United 93 And "The Path To 9/11"

Last night I finally watched United 93.  All I can say is...
Really, I was dumbstruck by the power of the film, and mostly by the great portrayals of the men and women on the ground by those same men and women.  There was no need to teach how to bring up big emotions, when these people were able to just remember the big emotions from that day and repeat them in front of a camera.

Now as for ABC's new maxi movie  "The Path to 9/11" all I know is this, if Bill's agin it, I'll a watch it.

Islam, Poland and The Culture Of Fascism

"He's world famous in Poland."  So says Anna Bronski about her husband Frederick Bronski, Polish "actor", in the great Mell Brooks film "To Be Or Not o Be"

What does this have to do with anything?  Well today is the 67th anniversary of the Nazi invasion of Poland, helped by their International Socialist Allies in the USSR.  This movie took place during the invasion of Poland and showed the lengths that people went to to escape the tyranny of Fascim.  yes it was a fictional comedy, but there was still a kernel of truth to it.

We live in a time not unlike the period depicted at the start of the film, quietly aware of the dark shadow of fascism looming over the border, but also quietly ignoring it while we fight little battles with ourselves over how dangerous the wolf really is.

Folks this wolf wants us dead.  He hates everything that the west stands for, and he wants to create a world where his god rules and no dissent is allowable.
Oh sure you don't "have to convert", as long as you are willing to pay
Jizyah,  And are willing to watch your church become a mosque, and your synagogues collapse into rubble.

Well it seems that someone over at RightWingStuff had the same thoughts.

Remember folks Fascism is Fascism no matter what the ACLU and their friends think.  We have more to fear from this guy's friends, than from these loons.

That is all.

Wars Are Not Won Around Tables

The time for talking has long since past.

Israel is doing the right thing by trying to enforce a resolution that the U.N. passed 6 years ago.

Why Now?
Why Not?

Remember peace is not accomplished through talking and deal making.
All that is accomplished by talking is one side gets stronger while another side gets weaker.
Israel has been talking and giving concessions for years, and still missiles rain down and innocents die.
They gave land and still Arab teenagers wander into Israeli pizza parlors with martyr belts on and innocents die.

Ask the South Vietnamese about what happens when one side gives up the fight after spending years talking.  Ask the Gypsies, Jews, Homosexuals, Communists, Catholics, Liberals, and anyone else who was alive in Central Europe in the Thirties.
I Think the answers that you would have gotten, would be a lot different than the ones that the Left Liberal Loons think would be the response.

Peace is won when one side defeats the other.

May G-d show his grace to the Israelis and their supporters throughout the world.
